Massachusetts cities and towns today and in history

Educators will gain foundational knowledge in local government as well as create & administer an active learning project for 3-5th grade students aligned with content standards addressing the purpose of governments, what governments do, and how people participate and contribute to their communities.

Successful completion of this micro-credential means that educators provided evidence that they:

> Gain foundational knowledge about local government and how people participate in and contribute to their communities:

> Describe why classrooms, schools, towns, and cities have governments

> Describe what governments do

> Describe how local governments are organized in Massachusetts

> Describe how people participate in and contribute to their communities. 

> Utilize key vocabulary in written work

> Create an action research project for your students such as volunteering in the community or develop an argument for making a change in a community and present their ideas

How to Earn Your Credential

  1. Explore the options and select a micro-credential.
  2. Click on your desired micro-credential badge.
  3. Click on "Digital Badge information button" and complete form.
  4. Click on "Resources, Submission Guidelines, and more" button at the bottom of page.
  5. Review each of the sections, then explore Resources to review content and complete the assignments for submission.
  6. Complete the work and submit by email to microcred@bridgew.edu

Qualification & Submission Guidelines

To qualify for this micro-credential, please send documentation of all completed requirements along with your full legal name to microcred@bridgew.edu. Once your submission has been reviewed and it has been determined that you have fulfilled all of the requirements, you will receive an email from the Acclaim system about claiming your badge.
