Dr. Irina Seceleanu

Professor of Mathematics; MSCA Chapter President
Science and Mathematics Center, Room 439

BS, University of Trier
BS, Academy of Economic Studies
MA, PhD, Bowling Green State University

Irina Seceleanu received her PhD in Functional Analysis. Her research interests span the fields of operator theory, linear dynamics, applied statistics, and statistical consulting. She enjoys teaching a varied number of courses, including Precalculus, Calculus I and II, Analysis I and II, and Probability Theory. For her work with students, she earned the Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Honors Outstanding Faculty Award. Dr. Seceleanu also emphasizes student mentoring and has worked with students on a variety of undergraduate research projects creating mathematical models for the retreat of glaciers in a changing climate, the effects of plaque aggregation on the neuronal network, and the plastic pollution in the oceans. Her students were accepted to present at various national conferences, including twice at the prestigious Posters on the Hill in Washington, DC.
