Dr. Veiga identifies as a Cape Verdean American cis-gender woman. She is from the Providence, RI area. Witnessing the effects of exclusionary discipline and other punishment procedures in schools on family members sparked her mission to support students' behavioral and social-emotional well-being. Her clinical and research experience focuses on the study and implementation of evidence-informed interventions grounded in cultural humility to support neurodivergent children, adolescents, and young adults in achieving their individual goals. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, she has provided individual and group therapy, and consultation to classroom teachers and school districts, as well as staff and community trainings on trauma-informed approaches, contextually responsive behavior interventions, and mental health.
